Will Writing
Why you need a Will
A Will sets out who you wish to have your possessions after you have passed away. This includes who should look after your children or pets and who will be in charge of dealing with your affairs after you have passed away. It can also include other wishes such as funeral arrangements.
Why you may need to enlist my help
Depending on your personal circumstances, you may need more complex advice if:
- inheritance tax applies to your situation
- you want to protect your assets from beneficiaries unable to manage their own financial affairs on their own or if you don’t want them to lose means-tested benefits that they are on;
- you own property jointly with a partner you are not married to;
- there are family members or dependants who may make a claim against your estate.
- where assets or beneficiaries are situated abroad;
- there are complex asset arrangements, such as business interests or you are a beneficiary of a trust;
- you want to protect assets from being used for long-term care in your old age;
- you are married with children from previous relationships.
Other issues
Alongside completing your Will you may need to deal with property issues and/or setting up a “Declaration of Trust” detailing how you own your property and the rights/obligations/shares of each party.
I can assist with all of the above.
I may also need to refer you to a financial adviser to provide a free initial consultation as part of this process.
